40 & 8 Medal Empty 40 & 8 Medal

The 40 & 8 Medal got its name from the railway car that US troops were regularly moved around in. Painted on the side of the car was "40 Hommes / 8 Chevaux" which is French for the number of men (hommes) or horses (chevaux) the car could carry.
