Medal given to mothers who had a son serving in the World War. Not sure if they were given only to the mothers of fallen soldiers or not. The single star indicates one son in service.

This one is for a mother with 2 sons who served in the World War. Notice the serial numbers on the medals, almost 1,000 off from each other.
