Here's a few variations of Overseas/Wound chevrons. These are found in bullion embroidered, bullion thread, bullion tape, yellow tape, wool. Silver chevrons were un-official and were for 6 months service stateside. Blue Chevrons were for Less than 6 months overseas. Each gold chevron represented 6 months Overseas or 1 wound. Wound stripes were worn on the lower right sleeve, overseas chevrons on the lower left. Navy ones point up, Army points down. There were no silver or blue wound stripes.

Navy:

1 year stateside, 6 months overseas(2 silver, 1 gold)
